LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Men's Club Lacrosse head coach Rob Mazanec announced the team's 2018 spring schedule today, the Cornhuskers' first season as a member of the Upper Midwest Lacrosse Conference (UMLC).

Mazanec's fourth season at the helm for the Huskers begins with seven-straight home games at the Cook Pavilion in Lincoln, Neb. starting with Southern Illinois on Friday, Feb. 9 and Wyoming on Sunday, Feb 11. Nebraska then hosts former Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference (GRLC) foe Kansas State on Saturday, Feb. 17 before battling in-state rival Creighton on Sunday, Feb. 18.

An action-packed weekend closes out February beginning with a Friday, Feb. 23 matchup against reigning Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference (RMLC) Division II champion, Metro State Denver. The Cornhuskers take on CU Denver – picked third in the RMLC DII Preseason Poll – on Saturday, Feb. 24 before squaring off on Sunday, Feb. 25 against North Dakota State. The Bison were picked third in the preseason poll for the perennial powerhouse UMLC DII and have appeared in seven-straight MCLA National Championship Tournaments – a semifinalist last year, falling to eventual champion Concordia-Irvine.

Nebraska starts UMLC play against Indiana on Saturday, March 3 and Missouri on Sunday, March 4 – both games will be played in Columbia, Mo.

Following a month off game-action for midterms and spring break, a trip will conclude the Cornhuskers' road schedule with games against Texas Tech (Saturday, April 7) and TCU (Sunday, April 8) in Fort Worth, Texas. Nebraska will also play Oklahoma on Sunday, April 8 in Norman on their way back to Lincoln. The Sooners were picked fourth in the LSA DI Preseason Poll while the Horned Frogs and Red Raiders were picked sixth and eighth, respectively.

Regular season action ends with a four-game weekend at home against St. Cloud State on Friday, April 13; MSU-Mankato and Kansas on Saturday, April 14; and Iowa State on Sunday, April 15.

"This may be the toughest schedule we've faced during my time at Nebraska," Mazanec said. "But the number of home games – and amount of time not spent on the road – should certainly be advantageous to our players.

"We hope to see packed crowds at the Cook Pavilion as well as our outdoor games throughout the year."

The 2018 UMLC Tournament will take place April 20-22 in Mahtomedi, Minn. and the 2018 MCLA National Championships Powered by Under Armour will take place from May 7-13 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
